My Car Care Clinic Nightmare 6 Months and 2 Weeks of Frustration What should have been a straightforward gearbox repair turned into a stressful, drawn-out ordeal that lasted over six months. I took my car to Car Care Clinic in December last year for a gearbox repair. At the time, I tried to be understanding given the holiday period. However, when January came and went with no updates, it quickly became clear that something was wrong. For months, I received no communication from the Okavango branch. I had to constantly follow up myself calling, emailing, and chasing for answers. When I finally got some clarity, it was after multiple conflicting stories. I discovered that they had lodged a claim with the wrong insurance company. Instead of verifying the correct insurer with me, they simply did nothing and failed to communicate. I then had to step in and arrange a three-way call with my insurance company just to get the process moving. During this call, I was informed that the Okavango branch was not on their system, but the Stellenbosch branch was. As a result, my car had to be moved thankfully at no cost to me. Unfortunately, the same pattern continued in Stellenbosch. Once the car was transferred, communication once again stopped. I had to follow up repeatedly just to get basic updates. Eventually, toward the end of April, I was told by someone named Tatum that the car was almost ready. Then silence again. On 22 May, I received an unexpected call from a mechanic I had never spoken to before, telling me my car was ready. He also asked if they should fix my wiper. This was shocking, as my wiper had no issues when I originally dropped off the car. I declined any additional work that would cost me and requested formal confirmation that the car was ready for collection. I never received that confirmation. Instead, on 26 May, I received a WhatsApp message claiming they had tried to contact me multiple times and that I would be charged storage fees if I did not collect my car that same day. This was completely untrue and incredibly frustrating, especially considering I had been the one consistently chasing them for updates. When I finally arranged to collect the car from the Stellenbosch branch, the situation became even worse. My car was in a poorer condition than when I had dropped it off the windscreen was cracked, and the wiper was missing. The manager, Rodney, claimed that the car had arrived in that condition, which is simply not true. After raising this issue, Rodney assured me that the windscreen and wiper would be replaced at no cost. We scheduled a date for this to be done. I arrived on the morning of 2 June, expecting the issue to finally be resolved. Instead, I wasted an entire day. No work was done on the car, and once again, I had to follow up continuously throughout the day. I was later told that the windscreen technicians had not shown up something no one thought to communicate. The wiper was reinstalled, but needed more work. To make matters worse, the team took no responsibility for the delays and failed to arrange a new date. They could not explain why parts of my air conditioning system had been tampered with and left loose. Now, every time I use the aircon, there is a rattling noise an issue that did not exist before. There was no apology, no accountability, and no attempt to make things right. At this point, we had no choice but to escalate the situation legally. Only then was the windscreen finally replaced and the wiper properly restored. However, the air conditioning issue remains unresolved. This entire experience has been exhausting, frustrating, and deeply disappointing. I trusted Car Care Clinic with my vehicle and was met with poor communication, negligence, and a complete lack of accountability. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Save yourself the stress and take your car directly to a dealership or a trusted professional.
